Which one fits your practice?

Phreesia VoiceAI is a capable patient-access voice agent. It answers and places calls, handles scheduling, refills, billing and records, and sits inside a platform already used by 4,700+ healthcare organizations.

Talkie is a great choice when the AI front desk itself is the priority: a partner focused on AI front desk work, building voice AI since 2018, that runs one agent across calls, texts, webchat and forms, and converts 9 of 10 pilots into long-term partnerships.

Phreesia added voice AI to a platform that started with intake

Phreesia has a long history. It was founded in 2005 and has grown by adding products. VoiceAI arrived in September 2025 as, in Phreesia’s words, a logical extension of that platform.

That history is a real asset if you already run Phreesia intake. The phone agent plugs into registration and payments you already use.

It says less about how mature the voice agent is. Voice is the hardest channel to automate. Patients mumble, call from cars, switch languages mid-sentence and ask two things at once. Talkie has been building voice AI since 2018, and years of live practice calls have gone into handling exactly these moments.

What to ask Phreesia: how many practices are running VoiceAI on live calls today, on your EHR, and for how long.

One conversation across phone, text, webchat and forms

Both vendors reach patients on more than one channel.

Phreesia reaches patients through VoiceAI on the phone, text and email for messages, and mobile and kiosk check-in for intake and payments.

Talkie puts one conversational AI behind every channel. A patient who hangs up mid-call gets a text to finish the request. New patients get a smart form pre-filled with what they already said on the phone. Outreach runs the same way: appointment reminders and confirmations and patient recall go out by call, text or both, with retries you configure and outcomes written to the EHR.

Because it’s the same agent, Talkie also coordinates what patients receive. Nobody gets the same reminder three times from three tools.

  • Inbound calls: scheduling, refills (including controlled substances), intake, FAQs, routing, after-hours.
  • Outbound calls and texts: confirmations, reminders, recall.
  • Webchat and two-way texting: the same tasks, for patients who can’t talk.
  • Languages: English, Spanish, Korean and 50+ more, switching in real time.

How each vendor supports practices after launch

Both vendors provide a dedicated implementation team. After launch, Phreesia assigns every client a dedicated account owner. It doesn’t publish how it reviews or tunes VoiceAI once it’s live. Talkie reviews real calls on a regular schedule, so issues can be caught and fixed early. Ask each vendor who reviews your calls after go-live, how often, and how fixes get made.

Adoption is part of it too. Some patients, especially older ones, may hesitate the first time an AI answers, which is why we published a patient adoption checklist. Talkie gives practices co-branded, multilingual education kits that show patients what the agent can do, plus talking points for staff.

That ongoing work shows in how Talkie pilots end. Every engagement starts with a pilot, and nine of ten convert into long-term partnerships. A demo shows what the product can do. A pilot shows what it does with your schedules, your providers’ preferences and your patients’ accents.

Phreesia publishes strong outcome figures, including 80% of calls handled end-to-end and a 10% increase in appointments scheduled. Phreesia doesn’t publish a pilot-to-contract conversion rate for VoiceAI. Ask to speak with a practice your size that’s been live for six months or more.

How much do Talkie and Phreesia cost?

Phreesia doesn’t publish a list price. It builds a custom quote from your size, workflows, and products.

Talkie’s pricing is on our site.

  • Plans start at $1,000/month. That covers about 5,000 minutes of AI work, or roughly 2,500 patient calls.
  • Busy months cost 20¢ per extra minute.
  • Every partnership starts with a paid pilot. It runs 90 days with no long-term commitment.
  • After the pilot, you choose the commitment. Stay month-to-month with no long-term contract, or sign for 12 months at 10% off.

Your final number depends on what you actually need. The difference is that you can estimate it before the first sales call.

Practices can also save by signing up together. Three or more separate practices that sign up for Talkie.ai together get free implementation for the whole group.

When Phreesia is a strong fit

Phreesia is likely a strong pick if:

  • You already run Phreesia intake and payments and want the phone agent on the same contract.
  • Kiosks, in-office check-in hardware and point-of-sale collections are high on your list.
  • You’re a health system or enterprise organization that wants one platform across hospital and ambulatory settings.
  • Your EHR is on Phreesia’s list and not on Talkie’s, and VoiceAI writes back to it.

When Talkie is the better fit

Talkie is likely the stronger pick if:

  • You’re an independent practice or group and the phone is your biggest front-desk problem.
  • You want one AI agent across calls, texts, webchat and forms, with confirmations, reminders and recall coordinated so patients aren’t messaged twice.
  • You want to know where pricing starts before the demo meeting, and to have the option to stay month-to-month after the pilot.
  • You’d rather prove results in a 90-day pilot on your own phone lines than commit on the strength of a demo.
  • Many of your patients speak Spanish, Korean or another language.
  • You’re on athenaOne or in the Privia network and want a vetted, fast-growing partner.
